There are many reasons for owning your own alpacas ranging from having a few castrated males (known as Wethers) as posh lawn mower’s, to having alpacas for producing fibre for a hobby or business and on to the larger Alpaca farms which can have up to a thousand animals in the UK which are very much a commercial enterprise. Most people just look forward to returning home from a stressful day at the office and having a wander through their paddock with a friendly group of Alpacas that will always be pleased to see them. A glass of wine does not go amiss at this stage. Managing a herd of alpacas can be very rewarding, your efforts are rewarded by the health and happiness of your animals.
